East Greenland, March 2020
Six months earlier I experienced the island of Greenland. I was impressed by so much but mostly by how remote it is, despite it’s presence on a global map. I was especially taken-back by the isolation of the villages and the difficulty of life. I was driven to learn more and to see what winters were like. Unfortunately I arrived as the COVID-19 virus was starting to rear its ugly head and in no time became a pandemic. Soon the borders to Greenland were shut and, as I was in the least populated area of the island, had but one chance to leave. Either that or stay indefinitely. Regretfully I was afforded but five days to experience what must truly be a remarkable, noble and difficult existence.
